We enjoyed catching up many Society for the Preservation of Natural History Collections meeting participants and Specify users at SPNHC 2017 in Denver. Our drop-in session on Thursday, June 22, brought in droves of Specify veterans, researchers new to Specify, and people looking to evaluate Specify for the first time. We had several discussions during the day on Specify Project planning for a sustainable revenue and organizational model. We thank everyone for their feedback during the session and throughout the week.
At SPNHC, we also held a breakfast meeting with 12 museum and research directors to seek their advice on how Specify could be more valuable and strategic from an institutional perspective. The Q&A and discussion that followed provided insight and strategy (and pitfalls) for moving a Specify consortium initiative forward.
