Workbench and collection object citations

Workbench doesn't upload anymore collection objects which have "collection object citation" and "c.o citation remarks" fields empty. We have been using a certain workbench data set mapping for several months and this problem appeared after upgrading from 6.2.11 to 6.3.02. Before upgrade, data sets could be uploaded even if those two fields were empty, now in 6.3 the upload stops with error message:

"Dataset could not be uploaded: edu.ku.brc.specify.tasks.subpane.wb.wbuploader.UploaderException: org.hibernate.PropertyValueException: not-null property references a null or transient value: edu.ku.brc.specify.datamodel.CollectionObjectCitation.referenceWork"

Dropping out these fields from our dataset template could solve this problem, but it would make data entry much more difficult, as person entering the data would have to manually add citations for collection objects after uploading data set.

auto-increment catalog number in WB 6.3.02

We were not able to get the WB 6.3.02 to auto-increment catalog numbers by leaving the cells blank (under header "catalog number") for the row(s) that we wanted to be automatically numbered (see post "It IS possible to use" from 6/22/2010 by tim noble). Can WB 6.3.02 auto-assign incremental catalog numbers when importing legacy data?
