The Project published a Specify update release today (29 May 09) with various minor fixes and enhancements. The list of changes to Specify for 6.0.07 is below. The list is also visible in the update installer and in the installed file readme.html. Registered users will be prompted to upgrade upon starting Specify, non-registered users need to use the "Check for Updates" option from the Help menu.

Changes made in Specify 6.0.07:

1. The Specify Wizard now supports the creation of a Specify database in MySQL server on a computer different from the one the Specify Wizard will be run on (typically a workstation). The process for creating a new Specify collection database on a database server machine involves first installing MySQL on the server and then running a Specify MySQL script on that machine. The MySQL script is available on the Specify web site. Specify databases must use MySQL's INNOdb as their data engine, but the MySQL Server installation may use other date engines such a ISAM for other applications. After creating the database on the server with the Specify script, one runs the Specify Wizard on a workstation, skipping by the "Create Specify Database" button in the first panel to the "Advanced" option of testing the server database to continue.
