Determination certainty (sp. cf and ?)

Hi,
I'm trying to import a smallish collection dataset into Specify, and the database currently has a measure of determination certainty for individual names as is fairly common in herbarium and museum practice.

A determiner may choose to add a "?" to their identification or even a cf. if it's close to that particular taxon. I wouldn't want to create new Taxa in the taxonomic hierarchy, so I was wondering where I could put these values so I wouldn't lose them (is there a Determination Notes field that I'm somehow not seeing?)

Cheers,
Kehan

determination qualifier

There is a field named Qualifier in the Determination table. This is where you should put ?, cf. etc. Most tables have a Remarks field. To see these fields on the forms you'll need to add them by editing the xml files. At first this may seem daunting but you soon get the hang of it. A document on form editing is available from the team, or e-mail me if you need help editing forms.

Excellent

and thanks for the fast response. I'll dig into those forms. Good to know that Specify has the power to do that.

on a side note I studied at Rhodes a decade ago ;)

determination qualifier

Note that many of the forms already have the most of the fields in them, they are commented out. If you don't find them in your discipline you might find an example in a different discipline that you can copy over.
